James Rodriguez reaches agreement with Manchester United : He will recieve No.10 shirt

Manchester United have an agreement in place to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, according to reports in Colombia.

RCN Radio claim that Rodriguez and his agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, earlier this week to express their unhappiness with the midfielder’s current situation and present the offers he has from other clubs.

Perez reportedly told the pair that he would assess the situation at the end of the season, but what was made clear in the meeting is that a pre-agreement is in place with United for a summer transfer.

United’s move for the Colombia international would also be dependent on Wayne Rooney leaving Old Trafford.

RCN Radio claims that in Rodriguez’s contract with Adidas, a clause states that he must wear the No.10 shirt for every team he represents.

Rooney currently occupies that shirt number at United but is expected to call time on his 13-year stint at Old Trafford this summer having already received a lucrative offer from the Chinese Super League.

Rodriguez has struggled to secure a regular role under Zinedine Zidane and has started only 12 games in La Liga this season.

But despite having played just over 1000 minutes in the league, the 25-year-old still has an impressive return of eight goals and six assists.
